Worth rendering when there is only a single track?

Hi folks New REAPER user here with a quick question. I have a single track (from my guitar) and I hit the Save button when recording stops which produces the wav file. Now that I have what I want, is there any reason to go through the Render menu/dialog to produce another wav file? I realize how render is useful for combining multiple tracks but if I only have one track, is there any advantage? If it makes any difference, the wav file will be combined into Windows Live Movie maker with a video file from an external camera. Thanks in advance for any insight. Cheers Daniel

If you edit, trim or add fx - even just an EQ tweak, you'll need to render to make the 'new' WAV. (Reaper won't change the original, unless you render over it using the same filename)

Also, if the sample rate or bit depth of the recording doesn't work in Movie Maker, then you'll want to render. Otherwise, you should be good.

Thanks guys, yes I am not using any effects and the raw file works in Movie Maker so it sounds like I don't need to explicitly render (plus rendering actually increases the size of the file). Thanks again.

Render will produce a "stereo" file from it, hence the size increase... >
